The vampire known as Romanova is a strange, even mythical figure. He's been everywhere, done everything, fought every war, freed every slave, dialed every phone… except, naturally, he can't possibly have done everything the myriad and contradictory reputation says he did. He's an enigma wrapped up in rumors and hearsay - from the name, almost certainly a pseudonym, to the unquenchable whispers that he's a child of Yvain, to the questions of his birthplace and lineage, both natural and preternatural.
Certainly, there are things known about him beyond the shadow of a doubt. Romanova works extensively with the Guild of Ia and the Hollow Commune, careful to pledge loyalty to neither and sell his services to both. He has been in Seattle for approximately four years, following everything going south in Kansas City. He was inducted into the Guild of Aoide for his remarkable talents on the violin and lyre. He has a brother named Meris Levesque - and they don't see eye to eye. And he's one of the foremost experts on supernatural phenomena in the known world.
He seems to have a distinct soft spot for Nora Aksyonov, treating the werecat alternatively like a daughter and a lover. When asked about her, he tends to deny her existence.
He frequently works with another vampire - Clementine Saint-Desirat - whom he claims as his child. It's been argued by some observers that creating another vampire would be profoundly unlikely, considering Romanova's usual motives. Then again, few people can agree on what his motives actually are.
To ask Romanova, the legend is greatly exaggerated. That business in Baton Rouge was a mountain out of a molehill.
The thing in Los Angeles, too.
Milan, you say? Overblown.
And he was barely involved in Bucharest. Hardly even there!
Just like the trouble in Paris.
…and Kansas City.
preternatural repertoire
- "seer" when the fates see fit, alexei is gifted with dreams and nightmares of the future - or of possible futures - the visions, he claims, burn into his mind so he can never forget them
- "alacrity" a common gift among his kind, alexei possesses reflexes, quickness, and balance all well in excess of human capability
- "tranquility" the strongest mark of yvain's blood, alexei seems to possess some ability to countermand the abilities of magi, favored, and riven through prolonged touch… though he has, at best, limited control over it
