Amon's former teacher explained to him that Thoth, the god of wisdom, did not choose those with mediocre intelligence. Those that received his favor held astounding acumen; he chose those capable of best using the wisdom he bestowed.
Amon, according to his teacher, received Thoth's blessing at a remarkably young age; not long before the two met. Amon's teacher, usually referred to only as Tahsin, and had received the same blessing only when he'd reached the age of 40, more than two decades after he'd begun practicing the arcane arts. The circumstances of the two's meeting were also remarkable, albeit tragic.
A 'karakura', a manifesting nightmare, imbibed upon the uneasy, unbalanced dreams of Amon, resulting in its empowering and full manifestation. Amon's parents, awakened by the chaos in the bedroom of their five year old son, entered to find their child on the verge of being consumed. As loving parents, they aimed to fend off the beast, but simple mortals, ignorant to the forces they assaulted, were slaughtered. Tahsin, gifted visions of Amon, arrived at the Sadak home too late for Amon's parents, but was able to banish the the demon dining on the flesh of its fresh kills, and saved the child. And thus the two were introduced. It is at this point that Tahsin believed Amon received the power of the "evil eye" (note: see abilities).
The altercation unfortunately left Amon an orphan, but visions from Thoth convinced Tahsin that it was his duty to take this child in, and then raise him and teach him. So he did. Amon spent his years traveling between Turkey and Egypt thanks to ties between Tahsin and the Council of Ros.
Eventually Amon surpassed his teach in ability and skill. Further knowledge would come as Amon independently studied, grew up, and as his own experiences continued to teach him… elsewhere. So, teacher and student departed. Originally participating in Ros activity in Alexandria, Egypt, upon the Ros' request, Amon went to continue his learning and self discovery in America; specifically Seattle.
He has functioned as the owner and sole employee of a small, barely noticeable 'shop' with an ecclectic collection of goods for the last 7 years. He runs and owns the Red Tree; herbs, spices, and exotic plants; minerals, powders, and compounds; talismans, wards, and custom spells for everyday problems…if you need it, this shop probably has it, though most humans mistake the place for a unique herbalist shop. There is also a collection of books in the store, but the okay to read ones are located in the front…those not so okay are hidden in a varitable restricted section closer to the back. His quaint little store, however, moonlights as a supernatural apothecary and medical practice. People know him as the man to see if you want wounds healed, curses lifted, and all manner of affliction alleviated. He also tends to know more than he should.
For his somewhat unfortunate past and early exposure to the dark, horrifying part of the world, he is a surprisingly amiable and good-natured individual. He does, however, harbor the expected level of darkness necessary to stomach what he sees and does, and is often elusive and more than a little enigmatic. He is fond of practical jokes, books, hookah, exotic teas, and M&M's.
preternatural repertoire
- "Theurgy" is a blanket term describing Amon's knowledge and ability to call upon the powers and knowledge of his patron deity, Thoth. Often ritualistic in nature, Amon knows a great many esoteric and magical things, mostly through knowledge bestowed upon him.
- "Invocation/Evocation" is the knowledge of various spirits, and divine and malign bodies, and the ability to summon, bind, control, ward, and banish them. Amon has broken the various types into "5 circles" based off the level of difficulty present in invoking or evoking them.
- first circle of lesser spirits and ghosts, the second circle of greater spirits and monsters, the third circle (the gate) of exalted spirits, lesser infernal and divine bodies, the fourth circle (the arena) of greater infernal and divine bodies, and the fifth circle (the 'emerald palace') of gods and cosmic entities.

- "Sorcery" describes Amon's ability to manipulate and control the world around him via the weaving of spells. He is capable of many feats, but most adept at protections, wards, seals, and curses.
- "The Evil Eye" gifts Amon the uncanny ability to curse and bestow misfortune with his gaze alone; he is simultaneously capable of removing such negative magic, and also warding against it.
