Aori Takazawa

Aori Takazawa
Life is for the living.
Death is for the dead.
Let life be like music.
And death a note unsaid.

Aori was born to a wealthy family in Japan. Her father was a very successful businessman, and her mother a very successful lawyer. Her family lived in Japan until Aori turned nine. Aori's mother was killed by a gunshot wound. The circumstances surrounding her mother's death were questionable, but investigations culminated in dead ends and a well covered murder. Aori was uprooted and moved to Germany by her father, who seemed eager to leave Japan and the bad memories that lingered there behind. His German mistress helped with the decision, of course. Aori lived in Germany until roughly age fourteen, when she was uprooted again and moved to Toronto, Canada.

When Aori turned eighteen she moved out of her father's home, though he funded all of her expenses. She moved to Halifax, and it was there that she happened to encounter Izzy Lavine and his band, the Wasp Factory. Having nursed a musical talent for many years, Aori joined the band almost immediately after proving herself to the band frontman (not necessarily an easy task).

At this same time, Aori discovered she had…abilities. For a while she attributed the appearance of her powers to Izzy's weird magnetism, though she would later discover this was not the case. Thus a few years of adventure followed as she toured with the band and experienced "weird shit" that the band’s front man tended to attract.

The band, taking a break from touring in order to work on a new album, came to Seattle to record. It was here that the "weird shit" that Izzy attracted finally became too much, and Izzy and a handful of fellow band members were killed. Aori survived and decided to remain in Seattle, parting ways with the other surviving bandmates.

She discovered that some of Izzy’s “weird shit” magnetism had rubbed off on her, and strange things and occurrences continued to be attracted to her.

Aori spends her time working on a solo career in the Seattle area and fending off “weird shit”. She’s a regular guest at the Hollow whenever the strange things that are attracted to her are particularly dangerous, or when she needs a bit of help training her powers and Luc isn’t around for her to bother.

She has also discovered the truth behind her abilities, finding out upon further research with some help from both the Council of Ros and the Hollow Commune that she is descended from a Riven bloodline, the House of Toyomike.

preternatural repertoire

  • "radial sunlight" no, it is not a cheesy song name. Aori channels sunlight, causing her to glow in times of high stress or high emotion. she likes to call herself a flashlight, and often laments the uselessness of her powers. considering the number of creatures affected by sunlight, however, her lamentations are less understandable than one may think.
  • "supernatural magnetism" supernatural creatures are attracted to her, and supernatural occurrences tend to happen around her. a holdover from her time spent with Izzy Lavine, though it has yet to show signs of fading
