Danny was initially and mistakenly nicknamed "Brass" for the first impression of sheer balls he appears to possess. Surely, someone with so much je ne sais quoi has to have some inane number of balls with some inane density other than 'two' and 'squishy'. Later on, it became evident to this naming committee that he wasn't so much courageous as he was unhinged.

Like those before him, Daniel is bred for the hunt and the chase just as much as the dogs he keeps and it's very unlikely he'll stop as long as the vital parts of him are still in working order. This dogged determination and drive is exactly how he gained his second title: the Courser.

Hardened in his childhood and blessed by blood, Brass has a set of talents and abilities that are commonly seen in Cearbhaill's first-born sons. He's skilled in areas that are physically demanding and a snappy thinker when put in danger. Among the mundane notables are his tenacity, marksmanship, sprinting capacity, and tracking ability - but it can also be said he's a great handyman if need be. Where he quite clearly does not excel in the modern world are in any tasks that demand an IQ much higher than his BMI.

One of two living members directly of the Carroll bloodline to carry the clan's preternatural ability, Brass didn't follow in his uncle's footsteps and settle down. Furthermore, his staunch views on supernatural creatures make him rather unpopular with anyone interested in keeping the peace. This, coupled with his increasingly erratic and volatile behavior has often labelled him more of a threat than an asset.

Brass has a habit of leading a nomadic lifestyle, though he has a "base of operations" with upright and educated friends like Emrys and Ruby. These people have become as close to him as any family and he still tends to leave for long "hunts", making it difficult to pin him down. Lately his disappearances have been less and less and Brass likes to call Seattle his home. A home where he is plagued by dreams of the King in Yellow and followed by Thrall and just ripe with other strange experiences.

Riven Abilities

  1. "Scholai's Fingerprint"
    • Scholai's Fingerprint is the name the Carroll line has given to the genetic memory its first born sons inherit. Each individual with the Fingerprint receives information from it and contributes to it for future individuals. Brass has not shown the same amount of skill at blocking out useless information and drawing on the useful as his uncle has and is often caught up in the "cloud" when he isn't under pressure to act.
  2. "Ghost Sight"
    • Given the nature of Daniel's birthright, it's not surprising that he has an uncanny eye for ghosts and supernatural creatures or activities. Furthermore, he is typically unaffected by glamour or illusions because of this keen sight. Older or highly skilled monsters might elude him from time to time, but the worst offenders are the human sorts: he is tragically incapable of identifying deception on a human, social level.
  3. "Portent of Danger"
    • This precognitive ability alerts Brass to impending danger to himself and those around him moments before it happens. This "bad feeling" is the universal knot in Brass' stomach telling him something is not right in the world. It is uncertain if he has gotten better at identifying the sources of these "bad feelings" or if he's just grown more and more paranoid over the years. Smaller dangers sometimes get overlooked as normal nausea but larger events are much harder to ignore.
  4. "Peak Reflex & Chronometry"
    • Brass' ability to react in haste rests just outside the human realm of possibility without a great deal of training. He might not be able to act with the speed of a bullet, but he can often fit one more action in a single moment than most people and is almost always the first to react… for better or worse.
