The Hollow Commune is very young. To its many detractors, this does nothing to excuse its myriad indiscretions, its cavalier attitude towards tradition, its utter lack of deference to the power structure that has existed Down-Below since Seattle was first born as a city on the hill(s). To ask the father of the movement - Kyose Aoyagi - the fury of the old guard was the surest sign of his success.
The Hollow was built to cleanse the darkest corners of Seattle of the corruption and rot endemic to the witching-world, to shine light upon the hideous and unspeakable, and to shelter the helpless from the predation of the dark places. The commune welcomes nearly everyone, irrespective of background, so long as they have something to offer in the struggle. Though less than two dozen individuals have taken up the cause of the commune, their efforts have driven disproportionate changes in Seattle's underfoot politics, and have scarcely gone unnoticed by the older powers.
The Hollow changed - perhaps permanently - less than a year ago, when Kyose was murdered by the Thrall. Leadership fell to Avalynn, younger and far more level-headed than her predecessor, and the commune became less a military cell and more of a sanctuary. Though the mission remained unchanged, the shift in tactics and priorities led to a sounder footing through increased alliance with the Ros.
