What makes a man pray when he's about to die?
Before the 1860s, it might be assumed that Israel Ephraim was just like any other young man. He woke up in the morning, he went to work until the evening, he courted at night and he hoped he'd make enough money to eat that day and sleep well through the night. Aside from scraps of information on one young Israel Ephraim whose death was signed in 1863, there would be no evidence he existed in such a mortal state at all… but then, there's no evidence to say that the Ephraim of yesteryear is the one we know today.
Israel is now a well known name attached to a face hard to track and rarely seen. One doesn't live as long as he has after death without some amount of skill, after all, and this particular vampire has pseudonyms for his pseudonyms and a few characters - all expertly crafted and wildly varying in their intensity and mannerisms. In his core, Israel fancies himself a creator - an architect capable of molding place and person alike; a scientist - an artist - picking things apart and putting them back together to the tune of some unheard piper.
He's a fan of gift-giving with an allegiance that can be bought for favors and odd trinkets… though such things are discouraged for the undeniably volatile, uncertain nature of the favors he may ask for (or worse, simply take). He's still amassed quite a few debts owed over the years of his life and there isn't an organization that doesn't owe him in some capacity despite rarely allowing the same contrariwise.
All said, Israel shows a short selection of preternatural abilities that, according to some, makes it quite obvious he is not - and never has been - any of the people he claims to be. In Seattle, Israel has found his niche as an entrepreneur on the surface, quietly purchasing various properties and collecting businesses to put in his pocket all under his favorite recent moniker.
