The elder Fleury brother has had, you could say, an interesting life.
Marc-Aurele's beginnings were full of expectations and assumptions - the first son of Jean-Basile Fleury arrived to fanfare. When he first manifested magical talent at six, there was celebration. Everything went sideways quickly, though. A traitor within the Council saw an opportunity, and abducted the young Marc as a bargaining chip with the Guild of Ia. What followed was one of the longest and most violent campaigns in the modern history of the Ros. The Templar response - led by Seattle's Lusa Chamberlain - was merciless and destructive, leaving nearly three dozen dead. Four proved to be entirely uninvolved with the abduction.
Though Marc-Aurele was recovered safely, the incident colored his views of the magical world greatly. Though he had the talent to pursue virtually any career within the Ros - indeed, the talent to be a fine Castellan or Advocate - he grew obsessed with the work of the Templar, and made a name for himself in that service by the time he was fourteen. Known for a particularly aggressive and violent approach to the work, Marc has many nicknames in the down-below; he particularly likes the moniker 'Merchant of Death'.
He has a noted soft spot for his younger brother, Luc-Aurele. He seems to hold a grudge against his mother, Anne-Marie Sulan, though he says little about the reasoning.
preternatural repertoire
- "pyromancer" the fine art of pyromancy is one very dear to marc-aurele; it was the talent he first manifested, and one he puts to ample use in his work - he can create, manipulate, and cast fire with frightening scope and precision
- "enchanter" like his father, marc-aurele is rather handy with the imbuing of the inanimate with magic; though he hasn't devoted himself to it extensively, he shows a great deal of promise in the art
- "projection" marc-aurele is distinctly skilled in projecting his spirit from his body, allowing him to scout, spy, and investigate in places his physical self normally could not approach
